Behind Closed Doors

The thrill of the hunt is the best part of junking. I believe the thrill is created by the not knowing. The possibility of finding a gem in a tattered box of seemingly worthless kitchen utensils, a treasure left to rot on the floor of a fallen down barn, or a love note hidden in the pages of a time worn book.

Every so often I stumble upon a place that excites and energizes the junker in me.

Behind closed doors I found a room of wonder. A once busy train station used as a storage facility for unwanted pieces of history.

The prettiest robin's egg blue walls spoke quietly, urging me to explore.

I found out the building may be for sale. Wish it was in my neck of the woods.

I know you too, have experienced this feeling of wonderment. We never know what lies behind closed doors. I have learned over the years if you are brave enough to open the door your life will be richer and way more fun!
Cheers,
Ki

I totally agree with you! I get an excited nervousness every time I hit a weekly auction wondering what's going to be in field after field, what treasures I'm going to find!

I also agree with Linda that it would make a fabulous shop! Where is it?

That looks like our little depot here in Thomasville...it's a museum now and they will occasionally have an art show there...yea, wouldn't it be nice to have a cool building like that for your own. Thanks for showing it to us.

That buildings got some great architectural elements on it. I love the simple word, "women" on the green siding. Thanks for the eye candy!

Take care, Sue

This is how I felt every time as a child I went into the attic of the barn where my grandfather did woodworking. And then to his garage where there was always a hidden treasure to be found. I can still see and smell the rooms today.

Just found your new site after purchasing the wonderful new magazine. Hate to tell you...but Ray Pelley's store closed this past week ( had a store wide auction to clear it out) Didn't you love Kirchoff's!! Am not from Paducah, but have a good friend that has a wonderful antique store downtown. Anthony Barnes antiques
